Fort Report: Time ticking on Eduardo Rodriguez being ready for season

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Eduardo Rodriguez is on the clock.

Rodriguez continues to be slowed by swelling in his right knee, a byproduct of what the Boston Red Sox diagnosed as a subluxation of his patella tendon. And now, after the young left-hander was limited to playing long toss for a sixth day in a row, manager John Farrell said he likely will need to make his first spring training start by roughly March 17 if he's going to be ready to open the season on time.

"Based on what we've looked at with different scenarios, we're probably 10 days away from that," Farrell said of Rodriguez's status.
