This was supposed to be an article about Vaughn Grissom, our new second baseman, who was due to return this past Tuesday from a rehab assignment after a hamstring sprain in spring training.
We haven’t had a look at him yet in a regular-season Red Sox game, and my thought was to report on how he performed defensively and if he might improve our overall defense. As you recall, in the first month of the season that defense was absolutely terrible. (More on that in a minute.) Well, sometimes we have to pivot: Grissom has been recuperating from the flu and still isn’t well enough to take the field, poor guy.
