With Ichiro Suzuki of the Miami Marlins unofficially tying Ty Cobb’s record of 4,191 career hits (1,278 in Japan, 2,913 in MLB) on Friday night, he was also continuing to use his legs to motor into exclusive company. With 496 career stolen bases entering play yesterday, Suzuki was four steals from entering an exclusive club of MLB players with at least 2,900 hits and 500 thefts.
