Pablo Sandoval was out of the Red Sox’ lineup for the fourth straight game Tuesday.
Manager John Farrell has to find a way to utilize a player who has not been reliable defensively at third base and is hitting just .211 with a .624 OPS.
“He’ll be on the field,” Farrell said pregame on Tuesday. “We’ll mix and match. We’ll find spots for him. With (Josh) Rutledge in the game tonight, you’re looking at a right-handed pitcher (Ben Lively) with big reverse splits and looking to take advantage of that with a right-handed hitter. And that’s why Rutledge is there.
