John Farrell is running out of answers.
After an 8-4 loss to the Twins yesterday that saw the Red Sox relinquish a 4-0 lead thanks to three errors, a failed catch near the wall in left field, two baserunning mistakes and one wrong decision by third base coach Brian Butterfield, the manager tried to describe what might have been the ugliest loss of a season that has seen plenty of them.
“It’s a lapse in concentration, that’s the only thing I can explain right now,” Farrell said. “They’re routine plays, plays that guys have made throughout their careers consistently.
