Less than 24 hours after Tonya Carpenter was struck in the head by a bat in the second inning of Friday’s Red Sox game fans started to fill in the seats in the sections near where the incident happened.
Mike Weatherhold, a 71-year-old Lancaster, Penn., resident was seated in Field Box 54, near where Carpenter was struck. He admitted it was on his mind.
“I’ll be honest, it’s always a concern,” Weatherhold said. “When our grandkids go to a game with us it’s even more of a concern. I’m always watching out for a foul ball or a bat if it comes up into the stands.
