PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Team Venezuela asked for Red Sox lefty Eduardo Rodriguez for the second round of the World Baseball Classic, but he’s not leaving camp. Rodriguez has had knee issues, and although he seems OK at the moment, the Sox would be foolish to let him out of their sight.
“They requested him and he denied,” manager John Farrell said. “He decided to stay here. Given all that he'd come off of this winter, the treatment that he currently goes through, he's decided to remain here.”
Rodriguez had a subluxation in his right knee last spring, and tweaked the same knee again in winter ball.
