ARLINGTON, Texas — Eduardo Rodriguez pitched like the ace the Red Sox have been missing all season.
Whether or not he will stick around for his second major-league start is unknown, but tonight he was the stopper in addition to the ace, as he led the Red Sox to a 5-1 victory that snapped a three-game losing streak in the toughest stretch of their season.
Rodriguez held a respectable Rangers lineup to only three hits and two walks in his 7.2 scoreless innings. He struck out seven. His scoreless outing was the longest by a Red Sox making his major-league debut since Billy Rohr went nine innings in 1967.
