John Farrell held out his hand and Drew Pomeranz shook it.
There was no finger-pointing or in-your-face arguing in the dugout after Farrell told Pomeranz he was done last night. Pomeranz submitted one of the better performances of his career, striking out 11 over six strong innings as the Red Sox earned a 6-2 win over the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park.
“I pretty much was throwing everything for strikes,” said Pomeranz, who endured a 28-minute rain delay before this one got started.
And before it was finished, Craig Kimbrel had his second-career four-strikeout inning in the ninth as the Red Sox combined to strike out 20 Texas batters, tying a club record and major league record in a nine-inning game.
