MILWAUKEE — It should’ve been comfortable ground for Drew Pomeranz, but a trip back to the National League did nothing to help him, nor the Red Sox Tuesday night.
Pomeranz threw his worst game of the season, allowing five runs in the first inning and six runs in four innings overall as the Red Sox were trampled by the Milwaukee Brewers in an 11-7 loss at Miller Park.
It’s the home runs that are hurting Pomeranz (5.23 ERA) this year.
His 91-mph fastball can be a fine complement to his big, looping curve. But when he leaves it over the middle of the plate the way he did several times against the Brewers, it becomes dead meat.
