You know the verdict, but do you understand why the crime was committed?
Everyone agrees the Red Sox would have had a better chance to come back in Sunday’s 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays if Chris Young hadn’t batted against righty pitchers late and Brock Holt had come off the bench.
Let’s accept as fact, too, that the lefty swinging Holt was available. The manager didn’t say otherwise, so if he’s covering for Holt for whatever wild reason you could imagine, John Farrell’s got to wear it.
There’s a lot Farrell has had to wear lately.
