In his first move as president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski has released pitcher Justin Masterson.
Masterson signed a one-year deal last December worth $9.5 million, and a disappointing season followed.
The right-hander only made 9 starts, going 4-2 with an ERA of 5.61.
Masterson was designated for assignment on August 10, and today Dombrowski decided to sever ties with him.
