To make room for Devers on the 25-man roster, infielder Tony Renda was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket following Tuesday night's game.
Devers, 21, started at third base in his only rehab game with Lowell on Monday, hitting a solo home run and driving in two. In 96 games with the Red Sox this season, he has hit .245 (90-for-367) with 45 runs scored, 21 doubles, 15 home runs, 52 RBIs, and five stolen bases, making 93 starts at third base and one as the designated hitter.
