The Red Sox today filled their 40-man roster by adding three pitchers, all of whom would have been eligible for the Rule 5 draft had they not been added to the roster. There are no real surprises among the three new additions, as each one pitched in Triple-A this season and could be ready for a big league role next season. Previously this offseason, the Red Sox added two more minor league players to keep them from reaching minor league free agency.
Here are the new additions:
Jalen Beeks
- Left-handed starter
- 24 years old
This year: Split between Double-A and Triple-A, finished with 155 strikeouts and a 3.
