David Price to visit Dr. Andrews, miss next start with elbow soreness

FORT MYERS -- David Price’s second year in Boston is off to a terrifying start.

Price will visit with Dr. James Andrews, orthopaedic surgeon well known for performing Tommy John surgery, to get a second opinion on his throwing elbow, which began bothering him after a simulated game on Tuesday.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Price had an MRI and the results are not yet fully understood. Price has been scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday, when he was supposed to make his Grapefruit League debut.

“He come out of a sim game the other day with increased soreness, so we’re holding him out,” Farrell said.
