PAWTUCKET, R.I. — It did not take long to come to the conclusion that David Price didn’t have it last night in his second rehab start with Triple-A Pawtucket.
On the Red Sox starter’s second pitch, the Louisville Bats’ Phil Ervin pulled a ground-rule double down the left field line. Price, working his way back from a left forearm strain suffered in spring training, saw his velocity sit around 95 mph and touch as high as 96.
The first inning was a long one. He allowed three hits in all, including another double, and uncorked a wild pitch with the bases loaded then lackadaisically dropped the throw from catcher Dan Butler at the plate to allow a run.
