David Ortiz goes deep again, as Red Sox win opener vs. Tigers

DETROIT -- Even when the Red Sox win, they lose.

Three outs from cruising to a no-drama victory over the Detroit Tigers here tonight, reliever Justin Masterson loaded the bases, forcing manager John Farrell to call on closer Koji Uehara. And after striking out Jose Iglesias on three pitches, Uehara took a line drive off the right wrist, threw out Ian Kinsler at first base, then left the field grimacing in pain after a 7-2 victory.

Uehara hopped around on the infield grass as his concerned teammates gathered around.

If not for that final out, we'd be talking about the Red Sox offense, specifically David Ortiz, who whacked another home run in the third inning.
