David Ortiz will be feted at Fenway Park tonight for becoming the 27th player ever to hit 500 home runs. But Big Papi has another goal in mind.
"Win another World Series," Ortiz said after taking batting practice today. "I'll take a World Series any time (over) 500 homers. Any day. That's my goal for next year. That was my goal for this year, but it didn't work out that way. I'll be on it next year."
As it is, Ortiz is one of only four players to hit at least 500 home runs and win as many as three World Series rings, joining Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and Reggie Jackson.
