MASHANTUCKET, Conn. — Now that Craig Kimbrel’s newborn daughter is in good health, the Red Sox’ closer is itching to get back to the mound.
Kimbrel’s daughter, Lydia Joy, was born on Nov. 3 with a heart defect, something the family was expecting after doctors discovered the defect in June. The family had to spend the first month in Boston Children’s Hospital and ended up staying in Boston during the offseason.
Kimbrel said his daughter is now doing great.
“It’s actually motivated me even more,” he said. “They always say when you have a child, things change, and they have.
