JUPITER, Fla. -- Red Sox manager Cora said he got a text Friday morning from closer Craig Kimbrel, who is back in Boston to be with his infant daughter, Lydia, who just had heart surgery.
“She’s a fighter, she’s fighting,” said Cora. “Keep your thoughts and prayers with the Kimbrel family. We’re all together in this. It’s not easy. I just got the text from the kid. I texted him today. God is in control and (Kimbrel) sent me a text. She’s fighting, she’s good, that’s where we’re at.”
Still no firm date set for J.D. Martinez' spring debut but he is schedule to face Chris Sale in a side session in Fort Myers tomorrow and likely do the same against David Price on the off-day on Monday.
