FORT MYERS, Fla. -- It was the moment Boston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez had been anticipating for nearly a year.
After missing last season while recovering from Tommy John elbow surgery, Vazquez caught ace left-hander David Price for two innings in a simulated game Saturday at JetBlue Park. But the real test came later when the Red Sox asked runners to break from first base as though they were attempting to steal and Vazquez made two strong throws to second.
"I feel great, strong. No pain, nothing," Vazquez said. "Today, I feel like I'm ready to play.
