As soon as the Red Sox were allowed to call Chris Young about playing for them, they did.
The early show of interest led to yesterday’s official announcement that Young signed a two-year deal worth $13 million.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t see Fenway as a better fit for me,” said Young, who expects his right-handed pull power to be maximized by the close proximity of the Green Monster.
The 32-year-old outfielder also believes the Red Sox are serious about jumping back into contention, as evidenced by their pending $217 million deal with free agent left-hander David Price.
