Chris Sale fell short again in his annual bid to win a Cy Young award tonight, finishing his highest-ever second place to the winner, Corey Kluber of the Indians.
After a sparkling first half of the season in which his first Cy Young looked like a lock, Sale faded over the final six weeks of the season while Kluber surged. This is the second Cy Young for Kluber.
Both pitchers posted phenomenal seasons.
Sale pitched more innings and games and struck out more batters while Kluber bested Sale in ERA, WHIP and most other rate stats.
