The picture is slowly getting clearer with Carson Smith, and the reliever will soon be back in game action.
But before that, there's still some work to do.
Red Sox manager John Farrell said yesterday that the club is targeting Smith's next sim game for Tuesday at Fenway Park. Depending on the results of that, the team is hopeful Smith's next step would be a rehab assignment.
Smith faced live hitters Saturday for the first time since having Tommy John surgery last May. During that session, he threw 25 pitches. Farrell said it would be a similar plan Tuesday.
