The Red Sox made a roster move on Wednesday, optioning left-hander Roenis Elias to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Elias, who was in competition with right-hander Noe Ramirez for the final spot in the Red Sox's bullpen, allowed 12 earned runs in 10 1/3 innings this spring.
Elias has been used almost exclusively as a starter in his career, making two relief appearances in the Majors since his rookie year with Seattle in 2014.
