Tonight at 6, Newton’s own Jeff Idelson will appear on MLB Network to announce the Class of 2016 for the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
It’s a 100 percent lock that Idelson, who has been president of the Hall of Fame since 2008, will tell us Ken Griffey Jr. is headed for Cooperstown.
But it’s not a 100 percent lock Griffey will be named on 100 percent of the ballots submitted by voting members of the Baseball Writers Association of America. I hope I’m wrong about that. Let’s hope this is the year the writers unanimously elect a player — Griffey — to the Hall of Fame.
