Alex Cora is not a judge, and the media types who covered his Meet the Manager press conference Monday afternoon at Fenway Park are not Suffolk County prosecutors.
In that spirit, Cora was not handed an official Louisville Slugger gavel and asked to sort out the guilty parties from the 2017 Red Sox season.
He wasn’t responsible for all that, didn’t see it first-hand, didn’t hitch a ride on any cranky Red Sox charter flights. Besides, while the 2017 Sox were busy yelling at broadcasters and running the bases as though auditioning for the Big Apple Circus, Cora, as bench coach of the Houston Astros, was focussed on winning the franchise’s first-ever World Series.
