It’s entirely possible David Price will leave his former Tampa Bay Rays teammate Carl Crawford in the dust and emerge as the worst free-agent signing in Red Sox history.
But fear not, Mr. Crawford. Whatever you’re doing and wherever you’re doing it, enjoy your day: When it comes to millions of dollars being flushed away on players who didn’t deliver the goods after climbing into that sparkling new home jersey at the introductory presser, you’re still in a class by yourself. (Though Pablo Sandoval is coming up on the rail. See below)
In fairness to Price, he’s in the third month of the second year of his seven-year, $217 million contract.
