Red Sox fans should be concerned that right-hander Joe Kelly is going on the disabled list with what the team is calling a “right shoulder impingement.”
They should also be asking questions about what appears to be a lack of communication between the pitcher and the coaching staff.
What we know for certain: In the first inning of the Sox’ 10-inning, 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays last night at Fenway Park, Kelly was having all kinds of trouble. His fastball, which normally is in the mid-90s, was crossing the plate between 89 and 91 mph.
