Brock Holt hits for the cycle as Red Sox snap seven-game losing streak

The dark clouds moved aside at about 6 p.m. this evening, the sun peeked out and for the first time in more than a week it felt like there was some light-hearted fun at Fenway Park.

Finally, a win.

For one day, at least, the Red Sox’ manager’s job could be considered safe, the general manager’s offseason mistakes could be forgotten and the Red Sox’ desire to have 35,000-plus singing “Sweet Caroline” in the eighth inning didn’t feel so tacky.

Behind an eight-strikeout game from Wade Miley and a cycle from Brock Holt, Boston cruised to a 9-4 win over the Braves and snapped a season-worst seven-game losing streak.
