Brock Holt dealing with oblique injury, Red Sox keep him out of lineup

Brock Holt has six multi-hit games in his last nine starts, but the Red Sox held him out again on Saturday as he battles a left oblique injury.

This will mark the third straight game Holt has missed.

The utility man was originally in the Red Sox’ lineup against the Royals Saturday and took several rounds of batting practice before the game, but was a late scratch when the Sox announced he his oblique was sore.

The severity of the oblique injury was not yet known, though any injuries to the midsection are often treated cautiously considering the importance of that part of the body for hitting, fielding and throwing.
