Brian Johnson to start for Red Sox 10 days after getting hit in the head

He’s been hit in the head with a line drive twice in five years, held-up at gunpoint in his home state and endured time away from baseball to deal with overwhelming anxiety.

Tuesday, Brian Johnson is coming back to the Red Sox to start against the Blue Jays.

“He’s been through quite a bit and we’re looking forward to the opportunity for him tomorrow,” manager John Farrell.

The wild ride continues for the University of Florida alum, who will replace Eduardo Rodriguez in the rotation for one turn. Rodriguez was originally scheduled to start on Tuesday, but is away from the team on paternity leave after he welcomed a baby boy on Sunday, according to Farrell.
