BOSTON -- Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts had to leave Wednesday night's game against the Rays with tightness in his left quad after scoring from first on a double by David Ortiz in the fifth inning.
Bogaerts appeared to grimace after he rounded second, and he was tended to by the training staff in the dugout.
The Red Sox announced that Bogaerts is day-to-day.
When the Red Sox went out for defense in the sixth, Chris Young entered the game in left field and Brock Holt moved from left to shortstop.
