The Toronto Blue Jays have hired Ben Cherington as vice president of baseball operations.
Cherington guided the AL East rival Boston Red Sox to a World Series title in 2013, after taking over in 2012 for current Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein.
Cherington also oversaw two last place-finishes for the Red Sox. He left the organization in August 2015 after Dave Dombrowski was hired as president of baseball operations.
