Blake Swihart energetically worked every pitch in the batting cage prior to last night’s game between the Red Sox and the Orioles at Fenway Park.
Swihart has been off the grid for four games since suffering a sprained left foot while sliding into third base in the fifth inning of Saturday’s road loss to the Kansas City Royals.
Red Sox manager John Farrell said the rookie catcher’s foot had responded favorably to therapy and that he will be back behind the plate for this afternoon’s series finale with the Orioles.
“He’s doing well,” Farrell said. “He’s responded well to treatment, responded well to the tape job they’ve put around his foot.
