CHICAGO -- The Red Sox offense proved no match for Lucas Giolito on Thursday at Guaranteed Rate Field. But the White Sox bullpen was a different story.
Following Giolito's departure after a one-out walk in the seventh inning, the Red Sox immediately capitalized on reliever Jeanmar Gomez. After the first four batters Gomez faced, the 4-0 White Sox lead he inherited was lost, with Mookie Betts providing a game-tying two-run home run, his 29th, to cap a four-run seventh inning.
Ian Kinsler got things started against Gomez, driving a single to right field and pushing Brock Holt, who walked against Giolito, to third base with one out.
