The Red Sox placed outfielder Andrew Benintendi on the bereavement list in advance of Friday night's game against the Blue Jays in Boston, and recalled first baseman/outfielder Sam Travis from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Benintendi, 24, has hit .297 with 25 doubles, five triples, 14 home runs, 57 RBIs, 68 runs scored and an .897 OPS in 91 games for Boston this season. He is also 17-for-18 in stolen-base attempts, as he leads the Red Sox in steals, walks (49) and triples. The Cincinnati native joins Mike Trout and Jose Ramirez as the only Major Leaguers this season with at least 100 hits, 50 RBIs and 15 steals.
