Left-handed prospects Eduardo Rodriguez and Brian Johnson have collectively thrown 39.2 innings while allowing just six earned runs in Triple-A Pawtucket, but Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington told the Herald on Wednesday that the team is not currently considering giving either pitcher a chance at the big league level.
The Sox continue to show strong signs of faith in the five-man rotation they built this offseason, despite their MLB-worst 6.03 ERA through 21 games.
"We haven’t gotten into those conversations yet,” Cherington said about adding a Triple-A starter to the big league rotation. “We haven’t had any formal dialogue with our Triple-A staff.
