Ben Cherington on potential changes to Red Sox' organziational structure: 'Unless you're the owner, everybody's got a boss'

NEW YORK -- For as long as he has worked for the Red Sox -- in various capacities from an amateur scout to general manager -- Ben Cherington always has had a boss.

That won't change just because Larry Lucchino is stepping down as team president.

So, amid speculation that owner John Henry will hire a veteran executive (recently ousted Detroit Tigers president/GM Dave Dombrowski's name has been floated in the rumor mill) to oversee Cherington's baseball operations department, Cherington isn't sweating it.

"I've always reported to someone," Cherington said today in his first public comments since news leaked last weekend that Lucchino will vacate his position at season's end.
