The Boston Red Sox activated second baseman Dustin Pedroia and right-handed pitcher Matt Barnes from the 10-day disabled list, the club announced Friday.
With the roster expanding for September, the club also recalled catcher Blake Swihart, first baseman Sam Travis, right-hander Austin Maddox and left-hander Roenis Elias from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Pedroia has been out since Aug. 9 with left knee inflammation. The 34-year-old is hitting .303 with six home runs and 54 RBIs in 86 games for the Red Sox this season.
