Alexi Ogando doesn't need to throw 100 mph to help Red Sox

Alexi Ogando’s fastball still hasn’t touched 100 mph, like it did when he was pitching out relief with the Rangers in 2010 and 2012, but his 96-mph heater was plenty good enough to get the Sox out of a bases-loaded jam on Tuesday night.

Ogando's fastball to the outside part of the plate got Desmond Jennings to ground out and keep the Rays off the board as the Red Sox went on to win, 1-0.

"What’s most important is to command and execute those pitches and I was able to do that today," he said.

Ogando has six strikeouts in six innings and is settling into the seventh-inning set-up role.
