Red Sox manager Alex Cora and Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman became friends when Cora was the Astros’ bench coach in 2017. So close, in fact, that Cora laughed off Bregman singling out the Red Sox as his prime targets this season.
On the “Going Deep with Chad and JT” podcast, Bregman lauded Boston’s performance in the American League Championship Series, when they brushed Houston aside in five games.
“Yeah, we battled,” Bregman said. “A few of the guys on our team were banged up. That’s not an excuse at all. They played really well and they played really good baseball.
