Addison Reed, the New York Mets closer acquired near the trade deadline on Monday, was added to the active roster and was available for last night’s game.
Red Sox bullpen coach Dana LeVangie gave up his uniform number so Reed could wear No. 43, the same number he’s worn throughout his major league career.
“This is always been a dream of mine to come here and play,” Reed said. “When I got the call yesterday saying I was coming here, it was awesome. It was everything I thought it would be. Excited to be here and get ready to roll.
