Boston Red Sox first baseman/designated hitter Mike Napoli was scratched from Friday's starting lineup only to find out that he's now headed to the Texas Rangers in a post-deadline trade.

The Texas Rangers have been on the lookout for a right-handed bat for some time now, and with Napoli they get a veteran bat with some solid pop (13 home runs, 40 RBI) even if his slash line in 2015 (.207/.307/.386) leaves something to be desired.
Napoli, 33, spent two of the prime years of his career with the Rangers (2011-2012), including a banner 2011 campaign where he hit 30 home runs and posted an eye-popping OPS of 1.045.
No word has been given on Boston's return in this deal as of this writing.
