One of the most intriguing names in free agency this offseason has to be the Red Sox' Cody Ross.
While Ross might not be one of the more consistent players, he is certainly one of the most clutch. You certainly cannot forget his stellar performance in the 2010 World Series with the Giants. He finished that year with a World Series ring and a World Series MVP trophy, not bad.

Given his past success you would think that any team that can get ahold of him would cling to him and keep him on their roster. Well it seems as if the Red Sox might be willing to let him go.
The New York Mets were considered one of the strongest suitors for Cody this offseason, but it seems as if Ross is asking for too much money. He was hoping to get a 3-year $25 million offer. Unfortunately the Mets have pledged they will not sign a free agent for more than two years.
At this moment Ross is at a bit of a stand still. He has yet to really negotiate with the Red Sox, and the Mets do not seem to be on the same page as him.
The chances are very high that Ross leaves the Red Sox before Opening Day, but it is still not 100% clear where exactly he will land.
