In Red Sox news today, what could turn into a sticky situation between the Boston Red Sox and starting pitcher Jon Lester may get resolved if both parties can get on the same page.

Lester said he remains hopeful of staying with #RedSox. Said he thinks that way and believes team does as well.

The Boston Red Sox have reportedly offered Lester, who will be a free agent after the 2014 MLB season, a contract extension in the neighborhood of four years and $70-80 million -- well below current market value for a starting pitcher of Jon Lester's caliber.
As of now, contract negotiations seem to be at a relative standstill, with both parties seemingly more inclined to focus on the current on-field product than to get into more detailed and intensive negotiations.
