The Boston Red Sox saw their road trip come to a close in brutal fashion after Josh Hamilton walked things off for the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon in Arlington. However, it wasn't for lack of effort on manager John Farrell's part.
Here's Randy Jennings of ESPN with the report:
Coming off an 8-0 loss to the Texas Rangers on Saturday night, Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell had a meeting with a select group of five veterans before Sunday's 3:05 p.m. ET series finale at Globe Life Park.
Farrell said among the subjects discussed was the role veterans play in showing the younger guys how to go about the game.
The manager is looking for more aggressiveness. He felt the team had a "very tentative approach" to Saturday's game.
Farrell also added that he wants his players to "trust their instincts as they have done many times before."
It didn't work on Sunday, but Farrell hopes his words will light a fire under his team for the long haul of the season ahead.
