Today, September 11th, 2024, is the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States that claimed the lives of thousands of people. Among those that we lost is Welles Crowther, a Boston College alum and former lacrosse player who worked in the World Trade Center in New York City.
What we all know most about Welles today are the heroic actions that he took on that morning in 2001 to save the lives of at least 18 people. He truly exemplified the Boston College motto of “men and women for others” by selflessly sacrificing his life to bring others to safety during a time of incomprehensible chaos.
