EUGENE, Ore. -- Emma Tavella placed 11th in the finals of the 3,000m steeplechase tonight at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, held at historic Hayward Field in Tracktown USA. By virtue of her finish, Tavella earns Second Team All-American honors.
Tavella crossed the finish line in a time of 9:55.89 in the championship race. She earned her spot in the finals, finishing fifth overall in her heat while clocking 9:54.31. Tavella entered the field with the ninth-fastest time of the 2024 outdoor season.
The senior from Danville, Calif. is the third Boston College runner to compete in the 3,000m steeplechase at the NCAA Championship: Jennifer Donovan (2003, 2004); Danielle Winslow (2016).
