FORT MYERS, Fla. – Boston College softball opened up their 39th season with a 9-1 victory against Long Island University in five innings. The Eagles are now 1-0 and the Sharks drop to 0-3.
BC got the scoring going early, putting up a five spot in the top of the first. Freshman catcher Hannah Slike hit a bases loaded, 2-run single for her first career hit and RBI to get the scoring going. Slike later stole second allowing Nicole Giery to take home. Moments later, freshman outfielder Darien McDonough hit her first collegiate home run in her first career at bat.
